Dental implants procedure
Dental implants provide a lifelike replacement for missing adult teeth. Beyond aesthetics, they restore jaw function, making it easier to speak, eat, and chew naturally. Typically, implants consist of a screw embedded into the jawbone and a post that supports the dental prosthesis.

Biomet 3i implants stand out due to their innovative microsurface on the cone-shaped screw, which features a unique bone-bonding material. This allows implants to be placed successfully even in areas with lower bone density, sparing patients from uncomfortable dentures. Plus, this bone-bonding technology promotes faster healing after placement.

Why choose 3i dental implants?

With many dental implant options available, 3i implants are known for their nearly unmatched success rate—about 98% last a lifetime. Unlike other implant screws that are coated with calcium phosphate, 3i screws actually incorporate calcium phosphate within the surface, reducing the chance of coating breakdown over time.

The cone-shaped design adds precision during placement, ensuring the final restoration is comfortable and durable under daily pressures.

Benefits of 3i implants include:

  • Enhanced oral health.
  • High success and longevity.
  • Boosted confidence and self-esteem.
  • Durable, natural-looking teeth replacements.
  • Ability to place multiple implants in one visit.
  • No need for messy adhesives.
  • Protection against bone loss and gum recession.
  • Strong, functional prosthetic teeth.

How are 3i dental implants placed?

The 3i implant process resembles many implant procedures and generally requires two brief visits. The first visit is about an hour, while the second is usually 30 minutes.

After reviewing X-rays and diagnostics, your dentist will place the implant root under local anesthesia or your preferred sedation method.

Step-by-step for the first visit:

  1. An incision is made to expose the jawbone.
  2. A small hole is drilled into the bone for the implant.
  3. The implant screw is carefully placed in position.
  4. A temporary cap covers the implant, and the site is sutured.
  5. About 10 days later, sutures are removed and healing assessed.

Thanks to 3i’s surface technology, healing is often quicker, allowing the second phase to begin around 10-12 weeks later.

During the second visit, your dentist will:

  • Administer local anesthesia and expose the implant.
  • Remove the temporary cap and attach an abutment.
  • Take bite impressions to craft your new crown.
  • Secure the prosthesis with a tiny screw and make comfort adjustments.

Your 3i dental implant will then be strong, comfortable, and designed to last a lifetime.
